Frequently Asked Questions
- How much does it cost to play football?
Participation fee from CUSD is the only actual fee which will be paid during Puma Days or the first week of school. We have fundraisers in which each player can participate. We also have opportunities for you to donate, including program ads, funds for game day Gatorade and sponsorships.
- Where can I find important dates/information?

- Are there specific items needed for the first day of summer football?
“Blues & Greys” (Grey T-shirt, navy shorts), cleats, water… We recommend your player label these items.
Grey T-shirts, Navy shorts with Perry Football graphics. Your player will wear these for every practice, off- season conditioning and football camp. We recommend your player have several sets - think 5 or more. Players will wear these as a “uniform” for camp as well as football camp. The more sets they have the less laundry you will have!
We usually make these available for purchase in the spring and summer. Dates will be posted on social media and the phsfb.com (updates coming soon). Last names will eventually need to be written on the back - black marker (Sharpie) works great!
- Will there be a specific color of cleats for the season?
Have your player check with the coaches during the first week of summer football.
- Do all players participate in 7on7 games in summer?
Coaches will advise those details in summer football
- What is Football camp in Show Low that is sometimes referred to as “Coach’s Camp”?
4-1/2 days of football and fun in the White Mountains. The players and coaches will depart July 5 and return July 9. There will be a cost; which varies each year. Last year was ~ $300. Opportunities to offset costs will be available in the Spring. Please refer to our social media and website for details.
Watch for sign up links beginning near the end of the school year through July 1. Camp sign-ups and payments will be made through the district community site.
- What can players bring to camp?
Additional details will be given out during summer ball, but a few items of note. Blue & Greys, personal items, sleeping bundle. Money for pizza or concessions. Phones are allowed but any valuables are a player’s responsibility. We recommend bringing a lock for your bag to secure items.
- Will my player need to complete a physical?
YES! All players will need to complete a clearance process which includes a physical exam. Physicals will be available at school (May 2) or can be done independently. Physicals typically cost around $25.Visit the Perry athletic department website for forms and information.
- Is there spirit wear to purchase for parents, friends, fans and family?
Absolutely! We call it PUMA WEAR! We have a trailer loaded with items to purchase as well as an online store coming with the new website. The trailer will be open during home games and initially at Camp Kick off (Sunday as players leave for summer football camp)
- How do I get involved or volunteer my time?
There are MANY different opportunities throughout the season to volunteer. Please check our website for need and descriptions.

- Will there be a “Team Mom/Dad”?
Yes, each team (Varsity, JV and Freshman) will have a Team Coordinator to help parents navigate through the season and be a liaison for you. They have the ability to send mass emails to get the information out to their team!
- Will I need to provide my player with food before a game?
Fortunately, we have a diligent group of parents who find sponsors in the community to provide pre-game meals for our players at every level.
Freshman, JV, and Juniors will be served a pre-game meal after school on game days typically in the cafeteria. Varsity will be served a MANDATORY pre-game meal at The Grove Church after school on Fridays.
- Does it cost money to attend football games?
Yes. There is a per person cost to attend all level football games. It can range from $3-5 depending on the level and host school. Playoff and state games often cost more. Family and Athletic passes are available through the school’s athletic department.
If you have a senior family member (55+), the CUSD offers a free grandparent pass for these members to attend games for FREE! Visit the district office for a pass.
- When does the season start?
Usually we kick off the season with “scrimmages” at the beginning of August. Check the Important Dates for your level scrimmage date.
